Port Edgar regatta 2011

September 19, 2011

 Macwester Malin 32 ketch

We made it to Port Edgar for the regatta over the weekend, as the worst of the weather failed to make an appearance. While we didn’t race our Macwester, we enjoyed a lively evening at the clubhouse on Saturday night, especially given that two of our club yachts [Salty Dogs] came first and second in division 6.

Following on from the clubhouse, we all ended up back on our Malin for some cold beer and hot food. I have to admit to feeling a little bit wibbly the following morning, so we took it easy; playing cards onboard as the showers passed overhead, and venturing out when the sun was shining.

On the journey home at around 5pm, we had the whole river to ourselves. It was really atmospheric; dark but very soft …no wind, however 2000rpm helped us to out-run the heavy rain chasing us back up the river.

  1. Lovely! Shame about the lack of wind…
