Dysart Sailing Club blaze

January 24, 2012

Following the discovery of a petrol can nearby, it seems that foul play is suspected as the cause of the fire at Dysart Sailing Club’s clubhouse over the weekend. The stone-built, two-storey, listed building built in 1835, which can be seen with the red roof to the very right of the photograph above [taken summer 2011], has been destroyed.

It looks to me as though what’s left standing may have to come down, and I was sorry to hear that it’s rumoured the club didn’t have any insurance cover for the property or it’s contents.

More on our overnight in Dysart last summer here.
